Ray Of Hope
Ray of Hope Mission Center opened its doors in 1997 with a vision to help families and individuals become self-sufficient. Our organization is a non-profit 501 (3) (C) group and all contributions are tax deductible. On our door you will find our mission statement: "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.... teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime:"
We serve the area from North East to the Susquehanna River (Western Cecil County). Our goal is to help people find the way to change their lives so that they don't need our help anymore. This includes assisting them in finding a good-paying job, learning how to budget their money, and connecting them with other services and agencies that will help them succeed.
At the same time, we support these families during their transition. Our free Food Pantry gives supplemental food to allow them to use their resources for other expenses. We also provide clothing and furniture when needed.
Our Food Pantry has many customers who will always require assistance because their incomes are inadequate for their needs; these include the elderly, disabled, and others attempting to survive on fixed incomes.
In the midst of all of this, Ray of Hope Mission Center is still called upon to respond to emergencies in our community. We assist families who have lost everything in fires or natural disasters and we assist victims of domestic violence to get to safety.
Through the gracious support of our member churches, we are able to act as God's Hands on earth.
Thrift Shop - Gently worn clothing, furniture, nursery needs, and household items are available for sale to the public. Store prices are low with frequent sales. Sale proceeds plus donations are used to help eligible families. Persons in need of clothing, personal hygiene, or over the counter medical supplies are issued vouchers to receive these items free of charge. Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Food Pantry - The Food Pantry items (including personal hygiene items) are distributed free of charge to eligible families and individuals every Friday. Eligibility is re-evaluated quarterly to determine if needs have changed.
Our On Going FOOD DRIVE!
With the economy as it is and the price of gas going up, there are many people who are in need of our help. We have three bins in our church vestibule for putting non-perishable food items in. Each week the food is delivered to Ray of Hope.
This Month's Donation List
We are now collecting for Thanksgiving Boxes. Frozen Turkeys, Boxes of Stuffing, Cans of Turkey Gravy, Canned Green beans, Canned yams, etc... Just bring them to the church and we will deliver them.
If you have any questions please see Dona Wilson our church Ray of Hope coordinator.
